III. v. t. lay hold, grasp, seize, பிடி; 2. receive, take, வாங்கு; 3. apprehend, கிரகி; 4. follow, accompany, adhere or cling to, அடு; 5. stick, ஒட்டு; v. i. kindle (as fire, wrath etc.) மூளு; 2. be sufficient; 3. form (as rust, fruits etc).

வீட்டிலே நெறுப்புப் பற்றிக்கொண்டது, the house took fire.
அது பற்றவில்லை, it is insufficient, it does not adhere, strick, kindle etc.
பற்றாது, it is not enough.
பற்றும், it is sufficient.
கடன் பற்றினேன், I have taken up money.
கடன் பற்றிக்கொண்டேன், I have received the amount of debt.
வரப் பற்றிக்கொண்டேன், I received the money or goods sent, I took charge of them.
